A happy mix of Italian pecora (sheep) and Spanish negra (black), the name is a kindly reminder of chef Mauro Colagreco's Italian-Argentinian origins, and evokes warmth, generosity and difference through a certain self-derision. It's a sure sign of a strong personality!
Created in 2019 in Menton as the excellent little family pizzeria, La Pecoranegra follows a simple and authentic concept: eat a modern Neapolitan pizza in a relaxed atmosphere that's comforting, particularly healthy and very different.
La Pecoranegra is the opposite of Restaurant Mirazur, yet in the same philosophical vein, proving that popular food can be fresh, local, organic and respectful of the earth and its people.
In 2025, La Pecoranegra was voted one of the 100 best pizzas in the world by The Best Pizza Awards, reaching 69th place!
In 2026, this international recognition was further reinforced as La Pecoranegra climbed to 60th place in The Best Pizza Awards ranking. That same year, it was also awarded the “Excellent Pizzeria” distinction by the prestigious Italian guide 50 Top Pizza, recognizing the quality of its work and its consistent commitment to excellence.
